New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs

The New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs helps veterans who reside in New Jersey make the transition from military to civilian life as well as help military families understand their benefits and rights as they age.

New Jersey Offers State Benefits

New Jersey offers benefits in addition to the Federal benefits afforded veterans and their families.  Veterans who receive Federal benefits are not disqualified from receiving benefits from the state of New Jersey. The New Jersey Department can help veterans who have been denied federal benefits and can provide support and advice for veterans re-entering civilian life.

Veterans must have completed at least 90 days of active duty to qualify for services in New Jersey. The 90 day requirement is waived if the veteran was injured in service and was unable to complete the 90 day requirement due to the injury. Veterans do not qualify if they were dishonorably discharged.  Spouses and parents of veterans who killed during a time of war may also be eligible for federal benefits.
