About Attorney Elga Goodman

Elga Goodman, New Jersey lawyer

I concentrate my practice on business and personal taxation issues, including domestic and international estate planning, the administration of trusts and estates, closely held business planning, and issues affecting the elderly. As a trust and estate attorney, I advise clients on estate planning techniques aimed at ensuring that assets pass to the intended beneficiaries while minimizing the state and federal tax burdens by creating charitable trusts and foundations, planned gifting programs, and drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney and living wills.

As an elder law attorney, I handle general estate planning issues and counsel clients about planning for incapacity, and assist clients in planning for possible long-term care needs, including nursing home care, and assist with coordinating private and public resources to finance the cost of care.

I also counsel closely held corporations including high-tech companies and other businesses on a variety of issues including tax strategies and succession planning.

In order to share my expertise more widely with clients and the greater public, I write and speak on business and estate planning and related subjects at seminars sponsored by various business, community, and civic organizations. My legal experience also includes serving as a law clerk for New Jersey Supreme Court Chief Justice Deborah T. Poritz. I am fluent in Spanish.
